Tea-cup and Raku firing Workshop
We start with the ancient technique of bowl making, with a ball of clay. We will create a collection of Chawan tea-cups, sculpting the clay and giving form to our tea mugs.
Looking for new relationship between hand and object, we explore the balance of forms and dimension. Our proposal, is to create to build a memory of our work, the expression that clay receives from us in a moment of contemplation and silence.
The Raku firing is another important elemento of this course. We will decorate our collection of tea-cups and submit them to the action of fire for 30 minutes in the Raku kiln.
We can appreciate the glowing works coming out of the kiln and how decoration and special effects turn out, it is always a surprise!
What you will learn:
- To produce Chawan cups and the the potters wheel;
- About bisque firing;
- To prepare glazes for Raku firing;
- Decoration techniques.
